For college he went east, where he graduated with honors from Harvard College (1972), and Columbia Law School (1975).  He was one of two Oregon finalists in the Rhodes Scholarship competition.  After graduating from Columbia Law School he went on to clerk with the Honorable Otto R. His emphasis is on products liability, personal injury, and general business litigation (which he does for his clients and other lawyers.)

For more than 30 years, he has represented businesses, injured people and their families.  He has received the highest rating by Martindale-Hubbell, a national directory for lawyers, where lawyers are ranked by their peers.

He is involved in several non-profit organizations and enjoys time with family and friends doing mostly outdoor activities; including whitewater rafting, hiking, and skiing.
